Our Story

With the discovery of our special sauna wood, Cryptomeria Japonica, we decided to give birth to CEDAR & STEAM Saunas. As a crew of passionate carpenters we’ve evolved into a boutique designer and producer of classic Cedar wood saunas and have brought the sauna magic to many households. We operate out of our workshop in the South of Portugal with a commitment to great design, reliable function and solid quality.

Our mission is to bring the authentic sauna experience to many families. We do love spreading the spirit of sauna.

CEDAR & STEAM SAUNAS

What started as a hobby quickly gained professional momentum. We built more saunas and became obsessed with studying Nordic sauna design. Figuring out all the little details that make for a sauna that works great. The pursuit of designing and building the perfect sauna is a continuous journey.

After building many saunas we feel we have cracked the code. Today we create outstanding saunas that are adapted to the climate of coastal Portugal.

Our love for enjoying a good sauna goes a long way back. We’ve been using saunas regularly for a long time. When moving to Portugal many years ago, the first winter came, and we found ourselves without access to a sauna. So, we decided to quickly build our own. On a small budget using mostly refurbished materials. She was far from perfect but she was hot and made us sweat.
